A few kilometers from the hotel, there is the first Chianti town of Gaiole. The shape of the built-up area of Gaiole in Chianti clearly reveals its market origin. The inhabited area was originally developed along the road that connects Valdarno to Chianti and in the place chosen for the market it widens up to form today's main square.
The main square has an elongated triangle shape and on the sides there are seven-nineteenth-century palaces.
There are many parish churches, such as the Abbey of Coltibuono and the Parish Church of S. Maria a Spaltenna.
